Bumper Stickers. They’re supposed to give you a quick morsel, a brief thought as you’re passing by (or being passed). Perhaps they say more than they’re supposed to, at times?

I saw one recently, that’s been around for a while: “mean people suck, nice people swallow.”

It got me thinking. How does one swallow if one does not first suck? Assuming, of course, we’re talking about the same activity.

So, according to them you start off mean and then – potentially – become nice. That is also odd, because the resulting niceness is only achieved in the act of being mean which was itself something nice due to its obvious result.

It’s contradictory.

It also advertises that the owner of this sticker believes the end justifies the means. The nice ends which comes before the mean means.

I’ll show myself out.
