learning how to sit in peace
my path is more than guilt and shame
i am just at the beginning
a man in the mirror owning his name
my compass isn’t just spinning
don’t have time for hate and blame
and i proclaim
what came before is not the same
it went up inflames
and many looked at me and they declaimed
but that’s ok, i understand
this isn’t a game
i’ll take this picture
and i’ll put it framed
i’ll look forward
and i’ll keep my aim
i know this journey
will be anything but tame
but when i look back
and see what i overcame
i’ll be proud of my acclaim
of what i became
of my inner fame
a person who earned their name
