(on what conclusion someone would draw from Reddit as a whole)

…Any conclusion it wanted to.

We are incredibly diverse entities. By the time I’ve finished typing this comment, someone’s day has been improved! Conversely, someone else’s has been diminished. Some connection has been made, and another severed. Some dream has been born and another ended. A question has been answered and another birthed. A desire has been quenched another set alight.

If one looks hard enough, you could find anything you wanted to I imagine. Unfortunately, there are things we don’t want to find (hatred, racism, sexism, homophobia, et al.,) that are seemingly unavoidable – that its torchbearers take pride in shoving down our throats.

Whether you’re looking for things deep or benign, SFW or not, a specific topic or fairly random – you can find it here.

Reddit is glorious and shameful. Reddit is uplifting and depressing. Reddit is aggravating and addicting. Reddit is informative and full of shit. Reddit is entertaining and leaves you wondering why you ever bothered.

It’s what you make of it, and as such you can form whatever conclusion you want because of it’s vastness. It’s easy to find the data to support your conclusion.

For me? I just try, these days, to not absorb all the hate. It’s hard due to the omnipresence. That’s not the same as avoid – I’m not blind to it. I still read certain subs and see what their talking points are, but I don’t need to drown myself in it. I can expose and then remove. The rest of the world is still worth defending…
