It’s hard to follow our thoughts
but there is hope in the rain
gone was the summer of love
became a summer of pain
one hundred fifty thousand deaths
an unwashable stain
needless hurt from GOP greed
on deaf ears we cry in vain
in the fight against injustice
we are uniting and will sustain
authoritarianism
has no place on our terrain
from police to politicians
our systems we will regain
a long process of reform
success in our long campaign
we have a long road yet ahead
many details to ascertain
return the power to the people
and end some gravy trains
but from the tweets to the streets
our resolve will not wane
there is everything to lose
but the whole world to gain
this evil cannot go unpunished
we need to honor the slain
take things one step at a time
use our hearts and our brains
remember to stop and breathe
and feel the hope in the rain
