We have pro-fascist media outlets blasting fear and anger 24\/7 to a population intentionally designed not to have the tools to ignore or combat them. The social contract is broken; the corruption no longer bothers to hide, as the enforcement mechanisms are captured. Wealth is being funneled upwards on an unprecedented scale, and while there is an endless supply for wars and tax breaks, there is always none left for you and me.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve been waging war on us \u2013 privacy, drugs, human rights, voting, clean air and water, information, foreign and domestic interventions, and more &#8211; for quite a long time now, with no end in sight. So much of the pain we go through is needless and meaningless, all so a select few can have more on top of the more they already have. I mourn the war that never ends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life.&#8221; -Issac Asimov<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we\u2019ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We\u2019re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It\u2019s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we\u2019ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.\u201d -Carl Sagan<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate.
