<\/p>\n
just when it seems within reach<\/p>\n
foundations of progress are breeched<\/p>\n
you want it all to burn<\/p>\n
defeat is what you yearn<\/p>\n
you delay us with your speech<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
shouting until our throats are sore<\/p>\n
it’s clear I fought a different war<\/p>\n
I’m trying to help disarm<\/p>\n
you’re fanning the flames of harm<\/p>\n
for me there’s no esprit de corps<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
on their arms they wore my patch<\/p>\n
but with glee our foes dispatched<\/p>\n
execute the oath I’ve sworn<\/p>\n
only later found the time to mourn<\/p>\n
they and I a clear mismatch<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
each day I feel I killed for naught<\/p>\n
their victory laps they gloat and trot<\/p>\n
just relent and go insane<\/p>\n
for this one will die in vain<\/p>\n
we did not do what we aught<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
’tis our duty to move with time<\/p>\n
be it a slope or hard climb<\/p>\n
deal with their urge to quit<\/p>\n
to give up and to sit<\/p>\n
they impede progress in its prime<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
alternative facts real fears<\/p>\n
peaceful protests through weapons-grade tears<\/p>\n
the cards collapsed and quick<\/p>\n
we felt queasy and sick<\/p>\n
playing damage control for years<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
’tis going to be a long fight<\/p>\n
You try to distract our sight<\/p>\n
have issues and qualms<\/p>\n
we’re calm like a bomb<\/p>\n
